Florida remote online notarization
Florida has allowed remote online notarization since 2019. The notary must be a Florida notary with the additional online registration. Sessions are recorded. Identity proofing runs through an approved platform. Fla. Stat. § 117.275 caps the online notarial act at $25.
How the appointment works
- Ask the receiving party if they will take a Florida online certificate.
- If the document also needs witnesses (Florida durable POA does), confirm the platform can take remote witnesses.
- Book a Florida notary with RON registration, not a generic notary.
- Complete ID proofing. Join the recorded session with camera and the document.
- Download the electronic file. Do not assume a printout will record at the clerk.
What still needs a person in the room
Some Florida real-estate and auto-title counterparties still want wet ink. Marriage solemnization by a Florida notary is a separate in-person (or otherwise specifically authorized) act, not a generic RON booking. If the packet is a hotel-room loan signing in Miami Beach, ask the lender which certificate they will record.
A Florida durable POA still needs two qualifying witnesses plus a notary. RON does not erase that. If the platform cannot put those witnesses on the call, book mobile instead.
Cost
The online notarial act is capped at $25. Platform fees are separate. In-person Florida notarial acts remain $10 under § 117.05, plus written travel if you book mobile instead.
