What Is RON for Santa Fe Signers?
Remote online notarization lets a commissioned notary verify your identity, watch you sign electronically, and apply an electronic notarial certificate over a live audio-video session. It is useful when parties are in different places, traveling, or prefer not to schedule an in-person visit in Santa Fe.
When RON Works Well (and When It Does Not)
RON fits many affidavits, contracts, and personal documents when New Mexico law and the receiving party accept electronic notarization. Some lenders, recording offices, or foreign authorities still require wet-ink signatures or an in-person notary. Ask the receiving party before you schedule.
How a RON Session Typically Runs
(1) Upload or present the document in the notary's approved platform. (2) Complete identity proofing (credential analysis and knowledge-based questions or biometrics). (3) Join the live session from Santa Fe or elsewhere. (4) Sign electronically while the notary observes. (5) Receive the electronically notarized document and session recording/audit trail per platform rules.
RON Fees vs In-Person Fees in New Mexico
RON platform and notary session fees in Santa Fe vary by document type, travel, and appointment timing. New Mexico regulates maximum per-act notary fees; travel and specialty fees are separate. Contact notaries directly for current rates.
